September 30th, 2009 — 08:26 am

Bikes get stolen every day. Thieves break into sheds to steal them, lift them at train stations and generally just lie in wait to steal anything that looks easy enough. They wouldn’t want to break a sweat doing it, would they?

As much as bike thieves are pests, we have to live with them and need to do what we can to make sure we are not pushover victims and make things easy for them! This is where good security measures come in and some sensible added precautions are taken such as getting some good bicycle insurance.

According to the article “Why bike insurance is as vital as your crash helmet!” many place their bikes on their home contents insurance so it couldn’t be easier. If your bike gets stolen you are covered. But lets see the thieves with egg on their faces by collectively tackling our bike security issues!

Things to know about how to maintain your car

September 29th, 2009 — 02:16 am

In today’s world, most everybody will need a car.A few people even need the use of planes.  But for most a car is essential for living. It gets people to and from work.  It takes people to go shopping. It can get people to and from school.  So what I would like to share is the 3 important parts of keeping your car in order.

This is from a perspective from my experience running a San Diego auto repair company. The two things I want to take a look at is your safety and the overall health of your car.

So in regards to safety you can classify all maintenance as being important to safety.  But one part of your car is really important to your safety. That part of the car is your brakes. With automobiles going much faster than they used to, good brakes are a must. With more and more people having so many distractions good brakes are a must.By ensuring that your brakes are in good condition you will ensure yourself the ability to stop in time.Brakes that are well taken care of can save money and save lives.  I have seen it first hand running a San Diego brakes shop.

In reference to keeping your car healthy the critical thing to remember is to keep your car maintained.  Some of the important things to do are oil changes and tuneups. By making sure you always get the oil changed you make sure that your cars runner smoother and longer.  By not keeping your oil maintained it can ruin your engine.

Another thing you want to do is have regular tune ups.If you can do that you will be able to keep your car’s important functions taken care of.  By doing this once again your car will runner smoother and cleaner. If you are unable to do this your car will be running very badly. Some of the results that can happen are a failed smog check.  Most of the cars that fail in my San Diego smog check shop are the ones that didn’t take care of those things.

So in doing these few things what you accomplish is the safety of you and your loved ones and the safety of your car.

For the times when our dogs don’t bounce back!

September 29th, 2009 — 12:37 am

According to the article “Walkies on a short lead for ‘Nanny State’ dogs!” we are going to need to be more attentive to the dangers on our dog walks! Every year it is estimated a huge 25,800 claims come through on the pet insurance. The worst offenders are those dirty ponds our dogs love to splash about in as well as cuts and scratches caused by our games of “catch!” with old twigs and sticks.

Has the ‘Nanny State’ gone too far this time? Our dogs have always played with sticks and never had a problem so what is all the fuss about?

Twenty five thousand claims were submitted last year and the year before because dogs were hurt during their daily exercise warrants some attention and also for those of us who don’t have any, let’s get some pet insurance just in case!

No frills commuting and how to keep the thieves off our backs!

September 18th, 2009 — 09:28 am

According to the article “How to outwit thieves when cycling to work!” every minute someone has their bike stolen in the UK.

Not great news when you are about to make the switch from petrol guzzling to cycling to work every day. Don’t however, whatever you do, let this put you off! All that these statistics mean is that you need to take some careful precautions when you take on the might of pedal power!

First off, get some great security locks. Secondly, always park up in an open area in the view of passers by. Thirdly, get some bicycle insurance (check this isn’t already covered on your home contents insurance first). Last but not least, while you are at it, look into some public liability insurance in case of an accident.
The best piece of advice I came across though was to resist the urge to buy a beauty of a bike and to purchase instead something more functional than pretty. Something plain will generally cause much less of a stir within the bike thief fraternity that one that glimmers with hundreds of gears and gizmos! Happy cycling!

Garden Indoors And Grow Natural Healthy Organic Foods

September 18th, 2009 — 05:34 am

Whether you’re growing plants indoors in your home or you are use a greenhouse for indoor organic gardening, the process is still the same. Organic gardening goes beyond the scope of simply eliminating chemicals and other unnatural substances from the products you use to care for your plants. This involves every aspect of nourishing your plants with healthy foods as well as eliminating pests with the aid of “good” pests to get rid of the “bad” pests. It’s similar to the farmer who puts a scarecrow in the garden to repel the crows. It’s a matter of utilizing products that are on hand, and making use of our resources to combat the problems during indoor organic gardening.

When one has an indoor garden, it’s more important that you practice indoor organic gardening than with an outside garden. It’s not something we like to think about, but the fact is, you’re putting your family in danger if you you use pesticides or other harsh chemicals on the plants you grow in your home. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t care just as much if you’re growing things outdoors, but outdoors, oftentimes the natural elements in the air will eliminate many of the toxins that might otherwise become a part of the plants themselves, but when you grow things indoors, you do not have the potential for that to happen. Thus, it’s more important to practice indoor organic gardening for the safety of your family and those who may enter the building where your plants are housed.

Being restricted to use of smaller areas is one of the challenges of organic gardening indoors. You, of course, want to choose plants that you are going to grow contingent upon the space you have available so that they will be able to grow properly, and you can keep them healthy for the duration of the time they must be indoors. For example, unless you have a greenhouse, you are not going to grow lettuce, potatoes, or corn because there isn’t enough room. In fact, one couldn’t even grow corn in a greenhouse, though they may attempt lettuce or potatoes if it’s a big enough building.

When growing organic plants indoors, make sure plants have space to grow and to use organic pest control rather than chemicals. If you haven’t planted indoors before, make sure you know exactly what is required before you begin and have all the organic products you need closely.

Working From Home Tips

September 14th, 2009 — 01:01 pm

Most people who are tying to make money online just go head first without to research the many rules and tips that are mandatory to know. You know that to be a rocket scientist, a doctor, a brick layer, a construction worker, an office worker, a teacher there are prerequisites, things you must learn, before you can be successful, you don’t just jump right in unprepared.

The same applies to the online marketing industry, even if there are some who try to make you think that that it is a piece of cake. It is so important to note that when you succeed, it will be such a fresh change from the every day hectic life that accompanies the 9-5 that so many of us have lived for so many years.

Most people will not make a dime online and yet there are others who will make more in one month than most people make in a whole year. Why is that? My answer begins with the age-old chicken or egg question, “what comes first the chicken or the egg”? I personally don’t have the answer, and I am pretty sure nobody else does either. One thing I do know for sure is that to be successful in making money online, you have to be passionate about the niche or product you wish to become involved with.

When you are interested in something, you will take that necessary time to research it properly and learn all you can. If you are passionate about something, it makes the time you spend on that particular thing more fulfulling for you. Some Internet entrepreneurs are just as skilled as your best salesman and seem to be able to sell anything, regardless of wherher or not they believe in the product.

But I’m concerned about those of you who are not so knowledgeable at working an online business successfully. Now, I’m not trying to make anyone believe that Passion is the only thing necessary. To be successful, you need a well designed, well functioning website, advertisement and marketing, etc. Those things are often learned from the company you join – but sidestep Passion and you reduce your chances for success dramatically. To maintain an interest in the product you are looking to promote, you must have an initial interest in it, and that means be passionate about it.

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or time consuming but it does take motivation caused by Passion to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that you won’t stumble. You have a great resource in the Internet search engines to search about the Internet Marketing industry for business opportunities, USE IT! Your research should uncover a company that you like and have confidence in. It should be solid, founded on great principles, and easy to understand with great products and services that are sell-able for which you can have Passion. If you don’t find what you are looking, move on to something else

You can find the right opportunity containing the attributes identified above. Comments like, well, that one sounds good and the compensation plan is excellent so I guess I’ll start that business – does not sound like a decision based on anything near Passion.

And remember when you hear that an Internet “guru” does that, don’t be tempted, because as I said earlier they are experienced and can sell just about anything, without being Passionate about the company products and services. Note: By the way it’s your goal to get to the point where you can sell about anything online. The goal is clearly a worthy one. Remember, there are other steps you must make before you step into Internet Marketing but if you don’t first find the right company products and services to be passionate about, all of those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you great success.

You must be focused on a company that shows promise, has believeability, and stay away from those you are not passionate about.

Among the resources available online, one particular site stood out and that was Zero Friction Marketing. A clear-cut crash course and excellent opportunity, as well as example of the possibilities when you are looking in the right place.  The mentoring and proven tactics are among the best available online today.

What Suits You Best – Canister Or Upright Vacuum

September 11th, 2009 — 12:20 am

If you live in a house with stairs, a canister vacuum would be more convenient as the assortment of tools that are available make reaching those difficult areas, such as corners, stairways and closets, a lot easier. Canisters are also lightweight; the vacuum is pulled along easily on all types of surfaces and can be maneuvered around obstacles. You will be able to use a special floot tool that will help you carry it on the stairs, you just need to insert the tool in the integrated wand holder and pick up your vacuum cleaner.

When compared to upright cleaners, this is a good advantage over them, since they are a bit heavier and can’t be easily moved on stairs and similar areas. The canister models are compact and thus easier to store.

The most well known brand for vacuum cleaners these days is Kirby. Their strongest part is the motor which is powering their canister vacuums, made in their own factories. It improves the performance of motors that have up to 1200 Watts. When you take that into consideration, you can see how these vacuums are quiet. It is due to the design of the motor suspension and motor seal, exactly what you need if you need to listen out for your children or even the doorbell. It would be good to check out Kirby G5 cleaner and Kirby G6 cleaner.

There is a huge range of vacuum cleaners you can take your pick from, which makes it difficult to know which one of them will be best for you. It’s depending on the surface types you are going to clean with the appliance, as well as the size of the area being cleaned. When selecting a vacuum for home, the main decision will be to select between a canister and an upright model. I advise you to examine the strengths and disadvantags of each vacuum cleaner types. Most canister vacuum cleaners are small and therefore efficient for use in homes, whether you have carpets or hard surfaces to clean. These models have suction control installed that is great for tiles, carpets, rugs and wooden floors. And you can use upright vacuum cleaners to clean all sorts of surfaces and dirt, while you have to wrestle with their weight a bit.

Vacuums can last you for years with care and regular servicing. Since there are many different models and brands available, it is hard to choose the right vacuum cleaner that would suit you. Kirby G6 vacuum cleaner and G5 are decent options. I urge you to do some research before you go into a store so you can make a decision based on good information, this is what will make your cleaning a much easier task.

Landscaping Ideas Worth Mentioning

September 11th, 2009 — 12:20 am

landscaping designs

There are various backyard ideas for landscaping a hill that you can use to transform an ordinary tract of real estate into something worth marveling at. Any backyard can be transformed for the better with the right ideas and the right amount of effort. Just try to keep your imagination and creativity working. In no time at all, you will be able to make something beautiful out of your ordinary backyard.

Using plants for landscaping is the most effective method of transforming a backyard. Creating a garden full of plants can help make any backyard spring to life. There are many way in which you can make different plants work to the advantage of your backyard. Choosing the plants that you wish to have on your backyard would give a different feel to your entire home later on.

You may choose to make your home look more upscale by planting some stud looking trees in your backyard. Having evergreens for example as part of your organic landscaping plans can give your home that noble look that you mostly see in elegant mansions and homes. You can simply create that same elegance with the addition of evergreen on your backyard.

To compliment your surroundings, you may wish to add a few flowering plants for a little color to your backyard. You may want to have beautiful red roses lining up a path way or bunched up together in a garden to create that bouquet of color on a chosen spot. You may even choose to make use of several flowering plants of various colors to keep your backyard even more colorful.

If you wish to add some color but may not have the time to care for the plants regularly, you may choose to make use of wildflowers that usually require little maintenance in order to thrive. Using that may even give your backyard that rugged and unpolished look that you may prefer over manicured lawns and seemingly artificial backyard landscapes.

Using plants can even help in making your own backyard easier to maintain. If it is your usual problem trying to mow an extensive area of your backyard, putting up a garden can easily reduce the lawn area that may need mowing. You can choose between putting up a vegetable or flower garden for this one. But bear in mind that putting up a vegetable garden may take a lot of patience since it may take usually a couple of months before you may be able to see their growth.

And way before that, vegetable plants may require the right amount of water, nutrients, sunlight and care to thrive and hence, may require some bit of your time.

Another way to reduce some mowing area in your backyard is to make use of “hardscapes”. Consider using plants and trees as another landscaping idea. You may want to make use of rocks, fences or walls to create alternative elements of beauty on your backyard.

Hardscapes may be good to use since they do not require as much maintaining as plants. That would be one of the good backyard landscaping ideas that you may want to use someday.

Improving The Juicer Experience

September 3rd, 2009 — 12:47 am

Number one reason why you can not find a best juicer is because there are different vegetables and fruits that have different properties and qualities. This ultimately means that a juicing method which is effective for a particular type of fruit may not be the best choice for another. It’s considered that a person is more healthy if she regularly drinks fresh juicer products. But improving the juicing experience is a matter of knowing what works best for a particular produce and how a juicer can keep its good performance. Using steam juicer and a masticating juicer is not really useful on the same type of content.

Fruits especially have cell walls that are very soft and they need a special extraction procedure – a good juice extractor can help here. Taking care of the cantaloupes, pineapples, pears and apples by peeling them off and cutting them into little pieces, you can handle them easily and juice them without hassle. On the other hand, citrus fruits, like oranges, lemons, grapefruits, or tangerines, should be juiced along with their bitter outer surface –after grating away their outer rind. Nutritionists say that it is very important to keep the white skin area and use it, because that is where all the best and valuable nutrients are placed. For that reason, most people use the common method of slicing the fruit in half and then pressing it against a reamer style juicer or a citrus press in order to extract the healthiest parts of a citrus juice.

Vegetables, on the other hand, are tougher to handle. Because of their rigid and fibrous cell walls, these will need much better juice extractor that will be able to extract the fluids from them. Scientists recommend that due to their lower acid content, vegetables have to be consumed immediately after their preparation. This is mainly supported because their enzyme activity lowers progressively with time –a 30 minute old juice has half of the enzyme activity found in a freshly made one.

The fresh, alive enzymes are one of the key reasons why making a fresh juice at home with a juicer can be so beneficial for one’s health.
