Our stainless plates have grayish spots on them like stains but hard to remove. Bleaching liquids and dish washing liquids could not remove them.

on how clean is your house they said for stainless steel pans to put some water in the pan and put cut up rubarb in the water and boil and let set. . maybe for your items you can get a extra large pan and after the rubarb boils you can set the items in the pan for awhile
try using ketchup and a green scrubbie pad known as a scotch brite ,, i know ketchup works well to clean my copper plated pans and some of my stainless wears.. just let the ketchup set awhile then scrub with the green scotch brite pad
I use Greased Lightning. Spray it on, use a green scrubby pad and rinse. This stuff is strong, so rinse your hands with white vinegar after you are finished or wear gloves.
